GUEST BLOG - My work as a Breastfeeding Photographer

Rejewelled is delighted to introduce Sian, a talented photographer from Dorset who is responsible for the very successful photographs behind the Dorset Healthcare breastfeeding posters, as well as being the talent behind our very own breastfeeding mama product shots!

I am Sian, a mummy and a family lifestyle photographer based in Bournemouth Dorset, I have a love of photos that capture real life, fun, love and emotion. I am a mummy to 3 small people 5 and under who I have been breastfeeding for the last 5.5 years and I am also a breastfeeding peer supporter, a role I have been doing now for nearly 3 years.

The peer supporting is how I got involved with Dorset Healthcare to create some beautiful posters to help spread the breastfeeding love. I worked with two lovely ladies from Dorset Healthcare breastfeeding advisory team, some wonderful mummies and some beautiful babies, we captured natural beautiful images in their own homes and they were made into some wonderful posters.
The posters have been shared far and wide in the UK, USA and Australia – to name a few! – not only on Facebook and Twitter, but also by healthcare professionals, Kellymom, the Bournemouth Daily Echo and they have even been discussed in the House of Commons.
It was a pleasure and an honour to be involved in the making of the posters and I am very proud to have been a part of it.

Fast forward a couple of months and Tracy and I got talking about taking some pictures of her stunning jewellery and what could be better than having it worn by a beautiful breastfeeding mummy. My lovely friend and breastfeeding peer Ebony was very happy to help with her beautiful daughter Nola so we headed to the woods to capture some love and memories.

That's what it is all about for me, whether you are at home nursing in the first few days or weeks, if you are celebrating a milestone and have just got those golden boobies, or if you would like some beautiful pictures in your favourite place. I want to give all mummies the chance to have some beautiful pictures to treasure of a special time. Breastfeeding doesn't last forever but the memories do, when they get a bit too distant having a special picture of that wonderful time is priceless.
Rarely do we do things for ourselves, we take gorgeous pictures of our husbands, boyfriends, grandparents and friends with our beautiful babies, but how many pictures do we get of ourselves (selfies not included), where we feel truly at ease, feel loved and want to treasure?

Capturing love and emotion, seeing the bond between mummy and baby and getting to take photos that you just know are going to be cherished, I really love what I do and I really do have the best job!
